{{heritageName}} : Tangya Tusi

A Tusi at the primarily level, Tangya Tusi underwent peaceful bureaucratization of native officers. The Site of Tangya Tusi Domain, located in Jianshan Township, Xianfeng County, Enshi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture, Hubei Province, was the seat of Tangya Tusi (chieftain of the Tujia people), whose surname was Tan. Tangya Tusi reached its heyday during the Tianqi reign of the Ming Dynasty, when Tan Ding’s wife Lady Tian and his brother Tan Jie presided over an array of large projects, making the layout of the Tusi seat complete and giving rise to many folk legends. The Sites of Laosicheng, Tangya and Hailongtun Tusi Domains reflect a rather complete Tusi system and a rather complete history of Tusi development.
