
The areas where the Sites of Laosicheng and Tangya Tusi Domains are located have for centuries been the most typical and traditional Tujia communities. As representative remains of the Tusi heritage of the Tujia people, Laosicheng Tusi Domain in Yongshun County and Tangya Tusi Domain are directly associated with the customs and cultural traditions of the Tujia people. Currently in the areas where the sites of Tusi domains are located are still preserved numerous typical customs, crafts and other intangible cultural heritage items of the Tujia people. Among them, the Hand-Waving Dance and Maogusi Dance of the Tujia people, Xilankapu (Tujia brocade), the Tujia New Year, the Tima Song and Song of the Tearful Marriage of the Tujia people, Diaojiaolou (stilted houses) of the Tujia people, Dongdongkui, an instrument of the Tujia people and others have been inscribed on the national list of intangible cultural heritage.
