{{heritageName}} : The Venue of Historical Events

The Summer Palace was the venue of the political activities and imperial court life of the Qing court and of many major historical events in nearly two centuries from 1750 to 1911. The reconstruction of the Summer Palace during the Guangxu reign gave rise to later discussions on the Qing government’s misappropriation of military spending, and the Renshou Hall, the Yulan Hall and other venues are directly associated with the Wuxu Reform, the Wuxu Coup and other historical events. The Summer Palace reflects the development of Chinese society, politics, economy and culture, and is the epitome of modern Chinese history.
