{{heritageName}} : The Huangshan School of Landscape Painting

From the late Ming dynasty to the early Qing dynasty, social change and the tendency towards restoring ancient ways greatly influenced the painting community. Many painters became followers of politics, and a group of painters who were adherents of the former Ming dynasty, however, chose to pursue artistic innovation. Mount Huangshan’s impressive pine trees, rocks, high peaks and murmuring mountain springs do not change with time. Such independence was identified with by painters who were adherents of the former Ming dynasty, and therefore Mount Huangshan became a vehicle for them to express their unique ideas. Mount Huangshan helped foster the Huangshan school of landscape painting represented by Shi Tao, Jian Jiang and Mei Qing.
