The Temple of Heaven is the most important one among China’s four major historic echo buildings. Its Echo Wall is well-known. The Temple of Heaven has four groups of acoustic landscapes including the Echo Wall, the Triple Sound Stone (including the Single Echo Stone, the Double Echo Stone and the Triple Echo Stone), the Heaven Heart Stone, and the Dialogue Stone.

The echo buildings of the Temple of Heaven integrate technology and architecture. The ancient Chinese made use of these acoustic phenomena to make the sacrifice to Heaven at the Temple of Heaven more mysterious, reflecting “Interactions between Heaven and Mankind”, “Harmony between Rites and Music” and other traditional ideas.
