{{heritageName}} : Offering Sacrifices to Heaven There—Tang Emperor Taizong’s Regret

Offering sacrifices to Heaven on Mount Taishan was a grand ceremony in ancient China. During the Zhenguan reign of the Tang dynasty, Emperor Taizong Li Shimin very much wanted to offer sacrifices to Heaven on Mount Taishan, but was repeatedly dissuaded from doing so. He followed the advice. Even in his later years, when he became rather stubborn, he still cancelled his plan of offering sacrifices there when conditions did not permit it. This is praiseworthy among ancient Chinese emperors.
