{{heritageName}} : Beating Bronze Drums and Dancing

Bronze drums, having been popular in south China and Southeast Asia for 2,000 plus years, are of special social significance. Bronze drums can be used for ritual purposes and as symbols of power. In history, bronze drums were first used for a singular purpose. Gradually, they were used for multiple purposes, including being used to transmit messages for military purposes, being used as treasures bestowed on inferiors, being used as symbols of power and wealth, and being used as musical instruments used at weddings, funerals, sacrifice and so forth. They are sacred.

Zuojiang Huashan Rock Art not only directly illustrates the dances and sacrifice of the Luoyue people, but also depicts bronze drums used at sacred, mysterious traditional sacrifice once flourishing along the Zuojiang River.
